At some point in my life, I want to rent and RV with my husband and travel across the United States. When I was younger, I did some travelling and have been to 26 states, but there are several that I missed along the way. While I have been to Arizona, it was more like a drive through a blizzard in the mountains of Flagstaff at three in the morning. It was terrifying, so I did not get to enjoy it at all. One of the places in Arizona that I really want to visit is Scottsdale. I know it is a place where many go to retire, but I am wanting to go there to see the plethora of natural sites that Scotsdale has to offer.
Papago Park is close to downtown and has this amazing “Hole In The Rock” that you see pictured above. According to Phoenix.gov, Papago Park is “Comprised primarily of sandstone, the range is known for its massive buttes that rise and fall throughout the park.” This would be a great spot for us to go on a hike, enjoy the views, and even bring our dogs as long as the weather is not too hot. They actually do not allow dogs on the trails when the temperatures reach 100 degrees.
If you are in the mood for a quick hike, Camelback Mountain is the place to go. The mountain has an elevation of 2,704 feet, making it an excellent place for a hike or a climb. If you are into photography, this area is a great place to take some scenic photos.
While we will not be making our trip with any kids, we are still big kids at heart. We would take the 15 minute drive from Scottsdale to Tempe in order to spend a day at Big Surf. Fun Fact: Big Surf was built in 1969, financed by the Clairol Company. It actually was the very first water park in the United States to have a wave pool. How cool is that?
You probably have heard of the phrase “medical tourism”. It usually means when a person leaves the country to get surgery done in another country. Many do this to get cheaper cosmetic surgery, but that does not always mean that it is safe. If you want a Tummy Tuck Scottsdale way, you can find some of the best doctors there and know that you are in good hands.
My Bucket List
There are tons of things that I wish I could have done when I was younger, so there are so many other great places that I want to visit on my bucket list. Raising my kids on a tight budget kept us from having family vacations. That is not to say that we did not have some fun, but we never got a chance to travel as a family. I also did not have much in the way of support while raising my kids, so I never got a break. In my 20 years of raising kids, I have spent two nights away from them and those only happened in the last two years.
Most people say they are not looking forward to having an empty nest, but I really am. Raising my children has been very fulfilling, but I look forward to having time where it is just me and my husband, and travelling together with no one to worry about except each other sounds divine.
Now that you know what is on my bucket list, tell me what is on yours?
