Do not mistake this as a real engagement announcement. My fiance and I have actually been engaged since May 9, 2013. We just have not set a date yet. To be honest, I am not in a real rush to get married. We have been together for almost nine years, so I know it will happen eventually. The logistics of getting married is the real problem here.
You see, we live in Georgia, but my family is in New Jersey, Florida, and Wisconsin. His family is in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and California. Even if we just stuck to just our immediate family, we would need to find a way to get them from NJ and PA to GA. Basically what I am sayins is that getting everyone together would be a logistic nightmare. We have tossed around the idea of just eloping to save money, but then we would at least need to have some sort of reception so we can celebrate our union with our families and friends.
I might also add that I have no idea how to plan a wedding or a reception. So, if we just head off to the courthouse to get married, all I have to worry about is the reception. And, here comes the questions…Do I get a DJ or do I get a band? I think that I would probably want to book a musician. There is this website where you can book a musician and choose the genre of music that they will play for your party.
I think that I can really do a reception on a budget if I find a nice outdoor location to book, so we can barbeque instead of having to book a caterer. We could cook our own food and rent a park gazebo for the party. We would not expect more than say 40 guests, so this would be the most inexpensive route to take. The only real cost would be when I book a musician. What do you think?
I love and appreciate any and all feedback. If you had to plan a reception on a tight budget, would this be the route you would take? Would you book a musician or hire a DJ? Would you cook your own food or look for an inexpensive caterer? Let me know in the comments below.
